Aus is great but it’s a little deferent than I expected. I’ve been playing solders outside with Fletcher, I’ve been playing Soccer ball with dad and Fletcher , and knights with Fletcher, and every thing vs every thing with Fletcher, and I go on adventures with Fletcher and dad and I draw (sometimes with Fletcher and sometimes with just me). Me and Fletcher were planning on building a tree house but that changed a lot. I’ve been to the lagoon, the beach, Gympy, Brisbane , maryburo, Fraser Island (once).

This afternoon we went down to Seary’s Creek. It’s a quiet little spot right out of town that is well loved because of it’s super clean swimming holes. With the schools currently on holiday, there were lots of kids running around having a good time. Ours were no different!
Both the boys fearlessly entered the water as they usually do. That’s fine and well as the water where we were at is shallow (about knee deep on me). They were playing around when Fletcher got in the water and started swimming! Not far mind you, but a solid breast stroke all the same. He’s definitely become a sea turtle. Hopefully the great progress will continue and Fletcher will finally be able to take a ride on a surf board (swimming is a prerequisite for that).
Great work little man!

The news reports keep reminding us that this year is on of Queensland’s wettest on record. We couldn’t agree more! It’s been raining off and on since we arrived and the newest storm started today and is expected to last for about 5 days. Rain, rain and more rain! What is nice is that the rain is warm and the temperature is still pleasant.
The kids are still active beach bunnies and have asked every day rain or shine for their body boarding time. On days when there’s no lightening they still get some time. The ocean here doesn’t get as cold as Northern California, so the water is always warm to us!
In other news, I have my first research appointment in early October. That’ll start my madness and commute. Thankfully, the research program is very flexible so I won’t be under as much stress and travel time as previously assumed. I’m very pleased about that!
For now, though, it’s listening to the rain on our tin roof and watching sunsets with a mug of tea. Here’s our favorite sunset so far!

Things keep trucking along! The pets are settling in well and the kids are finally calming down and not chasing them relentlessly anymore. The weather is slowly heading in to Spring and we’re getting a lot of rain and wind. It makes for some gorgeous days around here.
Wade’s Dad is doing well and we’re more than happy to hear his amazing progress. That’s been quite the spirit lifter for all of us. From original prognosis to now has been a journey beyond belief.
Wade is currently awaiting his QCT registration so he can start teaching, and I’m awaiting my COE so I can get my schedule together (granted, I don’t start until Jan). In the meantime we’re homeschooling the kids (that’s an adventure) while we still wait for their final paperwork. It’d be easy to stress on everything but what good would it do! We’re dotting all our i’s and crossing all our t’s and, in the meantime, enjoying time on the beach as a family. All too soon that time will be scarce!
It’s interesting living in a small town. You get really used to driving the one road in and one road out!

It’s been a rough few months, but things are looking up!! The family is back together again! Our furry kids were released from Quarantine on the 5th and I spent a very long day getting them from Sydney up to Brisbane. Then it was 3 hours of driving in horrible weather to get them home! They’ve settled in very well and are absolutely acclimated to the house. It’s quite a relief.
Today we took Jack to the ocean for the first time. That silly dog ran straight in to the surf without thinking twice and quickly found himself body surfing back to shore. He took it a bit slower after that.
Wade’s Dad is doing better, which we’re all very relieved about. We love him dearly and are happy to hear his voice again.
Other than that, winter here is slowly leading in to spring. Lots of rain!! The days have been somewhat warm (low 70′s) and the nights have gotten cold! Our packed goods will be here in 2 weeks and then we’ll have all our favorite blankets and pillows. That’ll make life as cush and comfortable as it gets!

Only a little over a week before our two cats (Abigail and Pearl) and our dog (Jack) are released from quarantine! We can hardly wait! We’ve been told that they are all doing well and are fit for a perfect 30 day release. Granted, the people tending to Jack say they’d like to keep him because he’s such a sweet dog.
Piece by piece life is coming back together! Missy is being well loved and well tended back in California. That makes for a happy heart and peace of mind!

Yep, it’s Wade’s and my 11th Anniversary! Guess we’ll just have to spend a gorgeous Saturday at the beach. I doubt the kids will complain!

My Mom spent a great month with us and is now safely on her way back to the US. I can say, without a doubt, that she’s looking forward to her dog, beautiful little Missy and seeing my Dad (not to mention her own bed, and less damp of weather)! We’re counting the days until she visits again.
Thanks Mom!!

We’ve been here for almost a month now. We’re getting settled and used to the quirks of the new house. It’s a beautiful place. The kids still haven’t started school, but we’re not stressing about it. There’s a bit more paperwork to be done and uniforms to be ordered! As soon as they start I’ll post a picture of them in their new school outfits. All said and done, the entire primary school (K-7) has 112 students! We’re so happy with the size! The teachers are fantastic and folks are really looking forward to adding the Ness boys to their roster.
Thus far we’ve been as far north as Rockhampton (and the Capricorn Caves) and as far south as Brisbane. Last week we attended the Eumundi Street Fair which was spectacular. What a fantastic little town! Cooloola, where we do our grocery shopping, has a fruit market every Wednesday and a plant market every Saturday. I’ve already picked up a ton of bulbs to plant. They even grow year round here!
Our furry kids are still in quarantine and we miss them dearly. Missy is doing very well with my parents and has become a settled and happy cat. I can’t wait to have the other critters here with us!
On a very sad front, Wade’s father is very ill and most likely will pass away within the next few days. For those who didn’t know us then, Wade’s Mom passed away in March of 2009. It’s been a very hard time. Dad supported us endlessly and with great passion all through preparing for this move and so we know we have his love and he knows that he has ours. We love him dearly and will desperately miss him. I’ll keep everyone posted.
With any luck we will have internet at home in the next few days, and then communication will get much easier!
Lots of Love!
